The
Asian
Urban Information Center of Kobe
(AUICK) is an international
cooperation, non-government
organization, based in
Kobe,
Japan. AUICK was established in 1989
with the support of the United
Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA)
and Kobe
City Government. Its aim
is to build extensive information and human networks
among medium-sized
cities in Asia, as a means to assist in the resolution of population
and
urbanization-related issues. This is carried out
through projects to train city officials,
provide techncial support and disseminate web-based and
published information.
 
NEWS
 Technical
Support Project
(March,
2012)
AUICK has
dispatched a
team of expert
nurses
and
midwifes
to provide technical support at a newly
constructed 600-bed maternal and child health care hospital in Danang,
Vietnam.
The delegation visited Danang twice in 2011 to
implement a training program to improve nursing skills, and is
now arranging
a new program with JICA and Danang City officials.
This
is the second Technical Support project after AUICK
sent a team of firefighters to Surabaya, Indonesia, to
help
improve emergency rescue service coordination
and response in 2009.
Preliminary Action Plan
Dissemination Meeting (February,
2012)
AUICK held
the Preliminary Action Plan Dissemination Meeting
in
Kobe, Japan from 12-15 February.
The Meeting was arranged for senior
health department officials of the
AUICK Associate Cities (AACs) to share
information on Action Plans to
improve adolescent reproductive
health and HIV/AIDS programs in their cities.
Participants from Chennai
(India),
Surabaya (Indonesia), Olongapo (Philippines) and Danang
(Vietnam) also learned on relevant programs and policies of Kobe
City and the activities of the World Health
Organization (WHO) Kobe Centre.
The Meeting was arranged in preparation for a larger Good
Pracice Exchange Meeting,
which
will be
held in Bangkok, Thailand, on 29 and 30
May, 2012.

child health care.
